The "Dallas" Movie: A Comedy?

It almost physically pains me to type this…

The “Dallas” movie is now a comedy.

Betty Thomas, who directed both “Brady Bunch” movies has signed on to direct and Pam Brody, who wrote “Hot Rod,” is working on the script.

The story will reportedly show the 80s-style Ewings in today’s world, which puts them in crazy situations, a la “The Brady Bunch Movie.” But reports are that the production company has already threatened to pull the plug if it’s not funny.

If everything works out, the movie will start shooting in January.

John Travolta is still attached to play J.R. Ewing, while producers are hoping to convince Shirley MacLaine to play Miss Ellie.

A comedy? Yes, there were always parts of “Dallas” that were funny (even if it didn’t mean to be), but to purposely make it a parody just makes me sick…
