"High School Musical 3" Hits a Snag
If you’ve been to Wal-Mart lately, you know that it’s been turned into a “High School Musical 2” shrine.
Last week, my fiancé and I were there and he turned to me and said, “What is ‘High School Musical’ anyway?”
I’m not going to lie to you. It made me reconsider our entire relationship…
For those of you who do know what it is, I’ll tell you that “HSM 2” continues to excel on the Billboard charts. The soundtrack is now spending a third week atop the Billboard 200 after selling 1.9 million copies.
But there is some bad news for “HSM.” The planned theatrical sequel has hit a major snag over money.
Two weeks ago, the cover of “Life and Style Weekly” proclaimed “High School Musical Big Fight! The stars are arguing over everything—especially Zac!” But in reality, it’s nothing so dramatic, as you discovered if you actually read the magazine.
Reports are that Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens (Troy and Gabriella) were offered $1 million to do the movie and they turned it down. “L&S” reported that Zac turned down $2.75 million and is encouraging the entire cast to get all they can. “L&S” also reported that Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay) wants to see a script before she commits.
The original writer, producers and director are all already on board.
Disney has dropped the idea for a “Haunted High School Musical” and will instead focus the story on the characters’ senior year.
It’s easy to say that Zac and Vanessa are being greedy, but when you think about all of the money “HSM” has earned Disney, don’t they deserve a little more?
