The End of "ER"?

If the rumors are true, this will be the final season of “ER,” and the producers are already preparing by trying to bring back old favorites…

Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) will return for multiple episodes this season to check out the Joshua Carter Center, which was financed by a gift from his family. Producers are also hoping to bring back Thandie Newton, who played Carter’s wife.

Producers have also talked to Julianna Marguiles (Carol) and Gloria Reuben (Jeannie).

Also on the dream list? Eriq La Salle (Benton), William H. Macy (Morgenstern), Sally Field (Abby’s mom) and Danny Glover (Pratt’s dad). Laura Innes (Weaver) and Shane West (Ray) could return as well.

And, of course, the show would love to welcome back its most famous alum, George Clooney.

I think they should have the hospital be haunted by the ghost of Dr. Romano so that Paul McCrane can return as well…

In the meantime, “ER” has bolstered its current cast with the addition of Reiko Aylesworth (Michelle, “24”). Aylesworth will play the hospital’s new chaplain and a love interest for Gates (John Stamos).

I haven’t watched “ER” in a long time, but that just might make me check it out. I’m not sure about the religious element, though…
