The "Grease" Winners Hit Broadway

A few weeks ago, Chuck Minsker gave us an update on Derek Keeling, the Scott Depot native who finished third on “Grease: You’re the One That I Want.”

But what about the winners of the show?

The new Broadway revival of “Grease” opened three weeks ago with Max Crumm and Laura Osnes in the lead roles. In a review, “USA Today” said Crum “sings and dance nimbly and projects the easygoing confidence of a budding alpha male.” The review said Osnes is “pretty as a picture but emits a nervous energy and an endearing awkwardness that makes her a convincing foil.” The paper gave the show 2 ½ out of 4 stars.

“Entertainment Weekly” was not nearly as kind. “EW” said, “Osnes’ trilling soprano is more suited to say, ‘The Little Mermaid’” and Crumm “puts a goofy spin on rebel Danny, but he never quite connects.” They gave the show a C-…

By the way, the runners-up are also working. Ashley Spencer is playing Amber in “Hairspray” until October 21st. Austin Miller will star in the off-Broadway musical Tully (In No Particular Order)” September 20th-28th…
