"Anchorwoman" Is Still Worth Checking Out
So two weeks ago I was all set to give you a review of “Anchorwoman” and then FOX pulled the plug.
In all honesty, I liked it. I was expecting a goofy fish-out-of-water story, but instead it was actually an intense look into a TV newsroom.
In case you missed it (and judging by the ratings, you did), “Anchorwoman” followed a Texas TV station after it hired former WWE diva Lauren Jones as an anchor.
The most interesting storyline of the show followed the news anchor and producer of the five o’clock news, Annalisa. Because Lauren had no journalism experience, Annalisa had to write all of Lauren’s stories for her. And she had to do it way in advance so Lauren could rehearse. Plus, she was forced to give up most of her air time to Lauren. Needless to say, that didn’t sit well with her and created an interesting work situation.
There were some lighthearted moments, though, especially in the second episode when Lauren mistakenly danced behind a reporter doing a live shot. And it was interesting to see the photographer who gave her such a hard time in the premiere give her so many compliments in the second episode. I have a feeling there’s more to that story…
FOX has made the remaining episodes available on FOX.com. If you get a chance, I recommend checking them out…
