Pick of the Week: A Family Affair

As we get closer to the start of the fall TV season, that means some of our favorite summer shows are coming to a close…

My Pick of the Week is the summer finale of “The Closer.”

This episode is a total family affair as Kevin Bacon returns to direct another episode of the drama starring his wife, Kyra Sedgwick. But this time, Bacon will also be directing their daughter, Sophie, who is wrapping up her guest arc on the show.

“The Closer” is already one of the most solid dramas on TV, but the finale takes the drama up a notch as Brenda pursues a ninja killer with the help of a Texas detective (played by the always fantastic Xander Berkeley).

In a recent interview with “TV Guide,” Bacon promised “a gruesome murder, car chases, [and] action.” Throw all of those things in with one of the best ensemble casts on TV and how can you honestly go wrong?

The summer finale of “The Closer” airs Monday, August 24th at 9 p.m. on TNT, followed by the summer finale of “Raising the Bar”…
