NBC Sinks to a New Low
Does anyone remember when NBC was the number one network with so many good shows it was hard to choose which ones to watch?
Seems like forever ago, doesn’t it?
It seems even further away when you think about what the network has planned for us for the summer.
As you’ve no doubt heard, NBC is resurrecting “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” ABC tried a version of the British hit a few years back with no success, but that’s not stopping NBC from trying it again.
If you didn’t watch it, the show drops celebrities out in the jungle and puts them through various challenges while the viewers vote on who has to go through the challenges and who gets out of the jungle.
The cast members that have been announced are quite the motley crew—and by that, I mean pretty sad…
Janice Dickinson; Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, aka Speidi; John Salley of “The Best [Darn] Sports Show Period,” wrestler Torrie Wilson, reality show regular Stephen Baldwin and Sanjaya Malakar of “American Idol” fame.
But the name that makes me want to just cry is former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich. After a judge ruled that Blago could not go to Costa Rica for the show, he is still in negotiations to take part on the show in another way.
WHAT?! Are you kidding me? I don’t know what is sadder. That Blago would want to do this (This is how he plans to prove his innocence?) or that NBC would give him the opportunity.
I’m surprised they didn’t try to work out some arrangement for O.J. Simpson to participate…
The show will premiere Monday, June 1st at 8 p.m. and then air Tuesday, June 2nd-Thursday, June 4th at 8 p.m., Monday, June 8th-Thursday, June 18th at 8 p.m., and Monday, June 22nd-Wednesday, June 24th at 8 p.m.
Every Sunday, beginning June 7th, MTV will air a marathon of the week’s episodes with never before seen footage and cast commentary in real time.
I know it’s summer, kids, but come on…
