"The Rachel Zoe Project" Review: Shutting It Down
With so many shows about style, it only makes sense that Bravo would follow the life of a celebrity stylist.
And there’s no one better to do that with than Rachel Zoe.
With her brash attitude and her crazy catchphrases—in Zoe speak, shutting it down is a good thing—Zoe makes even the most mundane thing interesting.
In the premiere, we see Rachel shop for a client (and herself), do fittings for a big celebrity event, visit Michael Kors, and meet with people about expanding her brand.
But even though the show is called “The Rachel Zoe Project,” the star of the show is Taylor, Rachel’s styling associate. Rachel hires Brad to help Taylor out but Taylor immediately turns on him. She’s jealous of the attention Rachel gives him and she decides that Brad needs to learn on his own, as opposed to teaching him. And don’t even get her started on chit-chat in the office.
Providing balance to it all is Rachel’s adorable husband, Rodger, who is also her business manager.
The opener is a tad on the slow side, but the previews (and the preview special) show us that things will pick up quickly as Rachel must choose between devoting time to clients and devoting time to the Rachel Zoe brand. And Taylor continues her battle with Brad, leading to lots of tears (from Brad) and a huge ultimatum...
In other words, “The Rachel Zoe Project” is going to shut it down…
