The Academy Rights A Wrong

In a truly classy act, the Academy awarded Tommy Smothers with a commemorative Emmy for his work on “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.” Apparently, he left his name off the list of the writers when the show won because he thought he was too “volatile”…

And it’s obvious that Tommy tried very hard to restrain himself during his speech. But he got a loud ovation when he said it was hard for him to see “ignorance in action”…

I have a feeling the audio director was at the ready to cut his mic…
