"Worst Week" Review: Can the Funny Continue?
When I heard the premise of the new CBS comedy, “Worst Week,” I just couldn’t see how it would be funny…
A man just can’t get it right when it comes to trying to impress his future-in-laws.
But the premiere takes that simple, unfunny premise and turns it into something hilarious. Whether it can continue that is another story…
The man is magazine editor Sam (Kyle Bornheimer). His girlfriend, Melanie (Erinn Hayes), is pregnant and they plan to get married. But they haven’t told her parents (Kurtwood Smith and Nancy Leneham), because they don’t like him.
And when you see the chaos he creates, it’s not hard to see why…
What should be a simple vacation at the parents’ house turns into a complete disaster. But it is a funny one as Sam’s faux pas get worse and worse (and not all of them tasteful, by the way).
The biggest problem with the show is that I don’t know how it will sustain the premise. Sam’s constant screw-ups could get old—no matter how funny they are.
But for now, I recommend you experience “Worst Week.” If anything, it will make you feel a whole lot better about your week…
“Worst Week” premieres Monday, September 22nd at 9:30 p.m. on CBS…
