"Thank God" a funny show is here...
I’ve always thought that “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” was one of the funniest shows on TV—even if ABC didn’t agree…
Though its premise is similar, “Thank God You’re Here” is no “Whose Line.” But it’s still pretty funny…
If you missed it, “Thank God” takes four performers and puts them each in a scene they know nothing about. They enter a door and hear “Thank God you’re here” and then must immediately insert themselves into the scenes. The final sketch features all four guests performing together.
Unlike “Whose Line,” though, the other players didn’t just go along with what the guest says. They make the guest conform to them—which is what produces the funniest results.
Dave Foley (“Newsradio”) serves as the judge and picks a winner to receive an award at the end of the show. David Alan Grier is the host.
As I said, the show is pretty funny. My only problem with it is the judge. I love Dave Foley, but is he really going to say anything bad about his peers?
And couldn’t someone find a new sitcom for this guy?
“Thank God You’re Here” airs two one-hour episodes tonight (Monday) beginning at 9 on NBC. The show then moves to Wednesday at 8 p.m…
