Conan Beats Leno and Letterman
The numbers are in, and it should come as no surprise to anyone that the premiere of “Conan” trounced “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “The Late Show with David Letterman” in the ratings.
“The Hollywood Reporter” is reporting that “Conan” had 4.2 million viewers. 3.3 million of those were adults 18-49.
“Tonight” had 3.5 million viewers with only 950,000 in the 18-49 demo. “Letterman” had 3.4 million viewers, and 1.3 million 18-49.
Interestingly, the TBS press release said nothing about beating the competition, but only praised the show’s success with young viewers. I guess they’re taking the high road, and more power to them for doing so. I'm pretty confident they won't make the same mistake NBC did and declare him the "New King of Late Night" after one show...
If you missed the “Conan” open last night, here it is again. I’ll have MUCH more later tonight…
