Why I love Kiefer...
So for those of you who are wondering why I am such a fan of Kiefer Sutherland, I offer as evidence his appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” Thursday night.
Letterman—who I have never thought was that good of an interviewer—opened up by asking Kiefer about his dad (?) and then, suddenly, jumped right in to ask him about his experience in jail.
Now, Kiefer was there to plug his new movie, “Mirrors,” not be grilled, a la Paris Hilton, about his time in prison. He could’ve just told Letterman that he wasn’t going to discuss it. But instead he confronted it head-on and managed to do it in a humorous way that didn’t belittle his offense.
Jeers to Letterman, though, for not pointing out during his Paris Hilton comparison that Kiefer actually spent 48 DAYS, which is a lifetime compared to the sentences celebrities have been getting as of late—including Paris.
Which makes me a little disappointed that the interview didn’t make more news. When Letterman grilled Paris, it was all over the Internet and TV and she didn’t say anything. But Kiefer admitted his fears and the lessons he learned from the whole experience. How is that not news?
