"HSM 2" Debuts Atop the Charts
Here’s an item that shouldn’t surprise anyone…
The soundtrack to “High School Musical 2” debuted at #1 this week on the Billboard 200, after selling 615,000 copies. That makes it the second biggest first-week sales tally of the year (Linkin Park’s “Minutes to Midnight” moved 623,000.). And remember that most of these sales came before the movie even premiered…
Disney also owns the #2 spot on the album chart with “Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus,” which sold another 83,000 copies…

Meanwhile, the ratings are in for the rest of the “HSM 2” weekend and they’re strong as well. 8.4 million tuned in Saturday and 7.5 million watched Sunday’s sing-along.
“High School Musical 2” airs again Thursday, August 23rd at 8 p.m. on Disney Channel. Then, it will take a break until September when it will return with a dance-along edition…
