Idol Update, Part 1: CMAs Recap
My plan was to just congratulate Carrie on her wins in my usual Idol Update, but Faith Hill threw a monkey wrench into that plan, so I’ve put the CMAs in a separate post.
If you missed it, Faith was caught on video in what appears to be quite a huff after Carrie beat her out for Female Vocalist of the Year. She is shown gesturing in surprise and exclaiming, “What?” before walking out of the shot. Hill released a statement today saying that Carrie is very deserving and “the idea that [she] would act disrespectful towards a fellow musician is unimaginable.”

And yes, that is Anthony Federov Carrie is sitting next to. A-Fed was her date…
Now that we’ve gotten the controversy out of the way, let me congratulate Carrie on the Female Vocalist and the Horizon Award. “Two years ago I was sitting at home watching these very awards and watching all these other people win and having the best night of their life, and this is the best year of my life,” she said while unsuccessfully trying to hold herself together…

The dress is now being auctioned off, with the proceeds going to Carrie’s charity of choice, the Humane Society. Carrie also gave a rousing performance of “Before He Cheats”…
Kellie Pickler was also on the red carpet co-hosting the arrivals for CMT. She also co-presented the Horizon Award that Carrie won…
One other Idol-related CMA note for you. “Sugarland,” which is on Sugarland’s new album was co-written by Season 2 finalist Vanessa Olivarez. Sugarland was also nominated for the Horizon Award…
