Picks of the Week: Lights, Camera, Action!
I love the beginning of the new fall season, because there’s always so much to choose from…until you actually watch the shows and realize they weren’t worth the wait.
But here are some shows that I think will be—or at least I hope so.
Here are this week’s Picks of the Week:
Movies turned into TV shows don’t always work, but it looks like “Friday Night Lights” will. It probably helps that the show can also mine material from the book that inspired the movie. And Kyle Chandler (as the team’s coach) is always a plus. “Lights” premieres Tuesday, October 3rd at 8 p.m. on NBC.
It’s finally here, the season premiere of “Lost.” The episode puts most of the focus on Jack, Sawyer, and Kate as they try to escape the Others and we see more about Jack’s life in the show’s flashback. But “Lost” fans shouldn’t get too used to having their favorite show back. After a month-long run, “Lost” will disappear until February. The good news is that it will return with a non-stop run of new episodes. “Lost” premieres Wednesday, October 4th at 9 p.m. on ABC.
Wednesday is a big night for ABC as we also get the series premiere of the new show I have been most anticipating—“The Nine.” I don’t know that I can make room on my plate for another serialized drama, but I’m going to try for this one. “The Nine” premieres Wednesday, October 4th at 10 p.m. on ABC.
However, as much as I’ve been anticipating “The Nine,” I’m afraid I’m going to have to tape it, because I’ve been anticipating this episode of “Project Runway” even more—the reunion special. These are always fun, and this one looks to be no different as Keith, who was kicked off for cheating, returns, and according to the commercials, he’s claiming conspiracy. This should be good. “Project Runway” airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. on Bravo.
Speaking of Bravo, they have apparently finally received all of the telepathic signals I’ve been sending them about adding “A Few Good Men” to their movie library. I was a little concerned that Tom Cruise’s antics had scared all of the cable channels away from this movie, but thankfully NBC-Universal’s need to promote Aaron Sorkin wiped that out. And there’s no better network to show it than Bravo. If you’ve never seen this movie, you must tune in, as in my humble opinion, it is one of the best films ever made. “A Few Good Men” airs Friday at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
And finally, TV Land gives us an entire 48 hours of one of my favorite shows of all time—“The A-Team.” The marathon serves as a promotion for “I Pity the Fool,” the new TV Land reality series starring Mr. T. “The A-Team” marathon begins Saturday, October 7th at 6 a.m. on TV Land.
