May Sweeps--My Pick of the Week

Here’s what’s on tap for Wednesday and Thursday, including my pick of the week…

Wednesday, “House” serves up the conclusion of its two-parter at 8 p.m. on FOX…“Lost” returns with an Ana Lucia flashback and the return of Michael at 9 p.m. on ABC…At 8 p.m. on the WB, “One Tree Hill” serves up its season finale, which could become the series finale if the CW doesn’t pick the show up…

Thursday, Christopher Knight and Barry Williams (Peter and Greg Brady) guest star as a gay couple on the first of two new episodes of “That 70s Show” (8 p.m., FOX)…Another Brat Packer returns to TV as Judd Nelson guests on “CSI” (9 p.m., CBS) and “Supernatural” wraps up its first season at 9 p.m. on WB.

But my pick of the week is “Commander In Chief,” Thursday at 10 p.m. on ABC. Yes, I know that just two weeks ago I said I didn’t know why ABC even bothered to bring the show back; but that was before last week’s solid episode and before I heard the plot for this week’s show. Last week, President Allen’s Vice President resigned due to his wife’s ill health. This week, it’s President Allen who finds herself in ill health when her appendix bursts. So, of course, she has to go under anesthesia, which means a transfer of power. And if you all remember your social studies classes, the Speaker of the House is next in line for the Presidency. And that means Templeton.

Now, I know that even an unconscious President Allen will find a way to get the best of him, but I’ve got to believe that Templeton will get in some good licks before she does. And I know I will seriously enjoy watching Donald Sutherland make the most of it.

Coming up Friday, “Ghost Whisperer” wraps up its first season…
