"American Idol": A Guessing Game

So I thought I’d entertain myself by playing a little “American Idol” guessing game. What song from the “Billboard” charts will the Idols sing tonight?

I’ve scoured the charts to look for possibilities. Keep in mind that I didn’t have access to all of the charts (stupid “Billboard” security) and I don’t know any of the country songs, so I couldn’t really pick from there. Plus, those pesky clearance issues can keep us from hearing songs we’d like to hear…

Remember (according to my information) that it has to be a song in the top 10 of one of the charts. So, here we go…

Paris—I’m not really sure it matters what she sings because she’s probably gone no matter what. But, I see her doing Mary J. Blige’s “Be Without You.” She could also pull off Kelly Clarkson’s “Walk Away.”

Katharine—She could also pull off “Walk Away.” It’s a shame that Ayla already screwed up “Unwritten” or Katharine could do it. There’s probably a Mariah Carey song on one of the charts I couldn’t get to and there’s also Cascada’s “Everytime We Touch.” Personally, I’d love to hear her do “Like We Never Loved At All” but I’m not sure the Faith Hill part can exist without the Tim McGraw part.

Elliott—The song that jumps off the charts when I think of Elliott is Ne-Yo’s “So Sick.” I can totally hear him singing it. He might also try James Blunt’s “You’re Beautiful” or a country song.

Taylor—If anyone would attempt the irony of performing Daniel Powter’s “Bad Day,” it’s Taylor. I’d like to hear him do Lifehouse’s “You and Me” but he can’t stand to do another ballad. He might look at a country song.

Chris—He probably has the most to choose from. I can hear him doing “Right Here” by Staind, “Savin’ Me” by Nickelback or Lifehouse’s “You and Me.” He might also attempt “Dani California” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers or “Move Along” from the All-American Rejects. However, I’d really like to hear him do Rob Thomas’ “Lonely No More,” because I think it would be perfect for his voice.

Remember that the Idols are also doing a song from the year they were born, which unfortunately (in my opinion) could mean a lot of disco…

Stay tuned…
