Who's In and Who's Out at "Days of Our Lives"?

Things are getting interesting for one of the few remaining daytime soaps on the air, “Days of Our Lives”…

In last week’s “Soap Opera Digest,” Executive Producer Ken Corday explained his firing of the show’s head writer by saying that it was time to get back to the show’s core families—the Hortons and Bradys—and that the canvas had been too full of new characters people didn’t know. He also promised that there would be numerous cast changes.

Now, we’re starting to find out who is out and possibly who is in…

According to TVWeek.com, Louise Sorel (Vivian), Crystal Chappell (Carly), Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe), Bren Foster (Quinn) and Tamara Braun (Taylor) have all been let go. The report also says that co-executive producer Gary Tomlin is also on the way out because he didn’t agree with the firings.

I am never a fan of people getting fired, but I have to say I agree with all of these changes. I never understood the return of Chappell and still can’t believe the way Bo left Hope so quickly to be with Carly. I love Sorel, but the whole Vivian thing was just a replay of what she did in the 90s. And the whole Braun thing was ridiculous. Recasting a character with an actress who just won an Emmy for playing another character on your show? And Taylor really never made much sense anyway. And Chloe has completely dominated the show for far too long.

Corday also hinted in his interview that favorites would be returning but would not say who. In an interview with TVGuide.com, Sorel said that Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall (John and Marlena) will be back for the summer and possibly longer.

Because the show shoots so far in advance, you won’t see the changes until at least late August. But there will no doubt be many more to come…
