"The Millionaire Matchmaker" Review: Something We Can Relate To

The cool thing about Bravo reality shows is that even though the people in them are generally on another level as far as social status, you can still find something to which to relate.

In the case of “The Millionaire Matchmaker,” it’s the dumb things men do to find a woman. Fortunately these particular men have Patti Stanger to help them out—if they listen to her…

If you ‘ve never seen it, “Matchmaker” follows Patti, the CEO of The Millionaires’ Club and her staff as they help millionaires find their perfect match. Patti is as truthful ast they come, which is exactly what these guys need. And her bluntness is helpful for the rest of us as well.

In the premiere, Patti’s client comes up with what he thinks is a clever date idea that Patti despises. I don’t think I have to tell you who turns out to be right. But I do have to tell you that it’s pretty entertaining. In the second episode, Patti has to knock a former child star’s ego down to size, while trying to prop up the ego of a PR executive.

Watching Patti’s interactions with her clients—as well as her faithful staff Destin, Chelsea and Rachel—is always entertaining. But upping the entertainment quotient this season is that Patti is planning her own wedding as well as trying to get new parents Destin and Rachel down the aisle. Plus, Patti is expanding her business to include both women and men.

And did I mention that Patti looks fantastic? Why would these guys not listen to her?

If you enjoy watching people try to find their soulmate but dating competition shows are not your thing, then “Matchmaker” is for you. And you might learn something about your own relationships in the process.

“The Millionaire Matchmaker” premieres Tuesday, January 19th at 10 p.m. on Bravo…
