“Gossip Girl” Review: Off to a Good Start, But…

As you may recall, at the end of last season, I said I was done with “Gossip Girl”…

But since it is one of the most talked about shows on TV, I checked out last night’s premiere. And to be honest, it was pretty good.

But I am still so over it…

My excitement for “GG” waned last season during the whole Georgina story. It just didn’t make any sense and it didn’t serve any purpose other than to split up Dan and Serena. I had issues with Jenny’s storyline as well. And the resolution of the Lilly-Rufus story. And Chuck standing up Blair was outrageous.

The premiere fixed one of those things as it looks like Dan and Serena are headed for reconciliation. And I have to admit watching Chuck pine away for Blair is interesting, but I just can’t get into it.

Maybe it’s because I’ve seen it all before…

I mean, didn’t we see the whole Chuck-Blair thing on “The O.C.” with Seth and Summer? And didn’t we watch Nate’s younger man-older woman story with Luke and Julie, also on “The O.C.”?

So maybe that’s what it all really boils down to…

After the roller coaster I went through with “The O.C.,” I just can’t do it again. No matter how good it may look from time to time…

“Gossip Girl” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on the CW…
