TBS Brings the Funny...Commercials

For the ninth time, TBS is bringing us a special featuring the funniest commercials of the year.

And “World’s Funniest Commercials 2008” definitely brings the funny as we see commercials from all around the world, including some from the U.S. I’d never seen before.

There’s a hilarious commercial for the Vancouver Film Festival, a slightly bizarre song parody of “YMCA” advertising Israeli HDTV and a Volkswagen commercial that will cause you to never see “Toy Story” the same way again. And there’s a classic Chinese VISA commercial about the Olympics featuring Yao Ming and Jackie Chan.

The show’s premiere coincides with the end of the Olympics so naturally it awards gold, silver and bronze medals to three ads. I was a little disappointed with the gold winner, but the silver will blow you away.

The show is hosted by Kevin Nealon and his wife, a somewhat stiff Susan Yeagley. But thankfully, their segments are short and the focus remains on the commercials.
