Picks of the Week: An ending and a new beginning...

Before I give you my Picks—which I think you can probably already predict—let me tell you about some other shows you can look forward to this week…

TV Land has two premieres of note Wednesday night. First, “TV Land Confidential” (10 p.m.) looks at series finales, including how Bob Newhart was able to keep the final scene of “Newhart” a secret. Then, “Back to the Grind” (10:30 p.m.) allows TV stars to take on the jobs of their most famous characters. Loni Anderson takes a job as a radio station receptionist, while Erik Estrada tries to ride with the California Highway Patrol, if he can get his motorcycle license first…

Thursday, we finally get the premiere of the mega-hyped “Mad Men” on AMC about cutthroat ad execs in 1960. It’s probably worth a look since it stars John Slattery (Victor of “Desperate Housewives”). “Mad Men” premieres Thursday, July 19th at 10 p.m…

And now to my Picks of the Week…

First up, it’s the series finale of “Traveler.” As I said in last week’s post about the show, this finale is going to be wild. I only hope it is able to deliver some closure to the whole thing. Plus, I hope the producers of “24” were watching so they will consider hiring Aaron Stanford (Will). The series finale of “Traveler” airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. on ABC…

My other Pick is, of course, “Hannah Montana.” This week, after her dad (Billy Ray Cyrus) cancels a Hannah appearance, Miley (Miley Cyrus) decides to go without him so she doesn’t get shown up by her biggest rival, Mikayla (Selena Gomez, the star of an upcoming Disney series). But, of course, her dad catches her, which teaches him a lesson in letting go that leads to a performance of Billy Ray’s new single, “Ready, Set, Don’t Go.” Camryn Manheim guest stars. This episode of “Hannah Montana” airs Saturday, July 21st at 8 p.m…
