Notes from the weekend...
I don’t know which was more disappointing Sunday—the “Simpsons” episode or the premiere of the “Simpsons” movie trailer.
After all of the hype about the trailer, I would’ve expected more than just one scene with a cute introduction. I realize that the movie is still in production, and one scene is probably all they could show; but they shouldn’t call that a trailer.
As for the episode, I’m still trying to figure out the point. Yes, the show got in some good digs at the government (although some of them were probably a little inappropriate for Veteran’s Day weekend), but the plot resolution was rushed and didn’t make sense.
I’m not a regular “Simpsons” viewer, so maybe that’s how the show normally works. But I was left asking myself what I was supposed to have found funny about the whole thing…
Here are some other thoughts about the weekend…
I loved seeing Dolly Parton guest star on “Hannah Montana” as—who else?—Aunt Dolly. If Kellie Pickler’s sitcom gets on the air, I’d be shocked if Dolly didn’t make an appearance…
Is anyone else sick of all those “Daybreak” promos? We get it already! I feel like I know everything that’s going to happen and I haven’t seen an episode yet…
Is my “Desperate Housewives” theory correct? Could Mike have really killed Monique? Or did Orson’s mother have something to do with it? Maybe Orson’s mom killed Monique and Mike knew it and Orson hit him to keep him quiet. This mystery’s getting good, but did we really need a pedophile to move into the neighborhood?...
Are the promos right? Is “Heroes” really going to explain the whole “save the cheerleader” thing in two weeks? And if they do, then what?...
