Kellie Pickler: The Sitcom
I just couldn’t save this until Tuesday…
FOX is developing a half-hour comedy for Kellie Pickler.
According to “Variety,” Pickler will play a naïve small-town Southern girl (a real stretch, I know) who discovers her biological father is the state’s well-respected governor. His dreams of being President are put in jeopardy until he and Kellie form a father-daughter relationship that ends up helping his standing.
Chris Peterson and Bryan Moore (“That 70s Show”) will write and create the project, which has gotten a script order. “Idol” guru Simon Fuller will be one of the executive producers.
It’s important for Kellie fans to remember, though, that this does not mean the show will ever get on the air. You may remember that Season 4 fave Constantine Maroulis had a sitcom in the works for ABC (produced by Kelsey Grammer’s company), but ABC rejected the script and it never went any further. However, since FOX is behind this one, I think Kellie’s chances are a little better.
While I’m on the subject of Kellie, let me tell you that her CD, “Small Town Girl,” sold 79,000 copies in its debut week—good enough to top the Country Albums chart and hit No. 9 on the Billboard 200.
