I have some HUGE news for all of you TV fans out there!

Okay, it’s huge news for me…

“Family Ties” is finally coming to DVD!!! Season one is scheduled to release February 20, 2007.

Now, I admit that the first season was not the best, as the show was trying to get its footing—and Michael J. Fox had yet to break out—but I will definitely shell out the money to add it to my collection.

Why? Here’s something to remember about TV shows on DVD. Just because season one is released does not guarantee that the rest of the seasons will see the light of day. It’s all about the sales. For example, Warner Brothers released season one of “Night Court,” but because of low sales, they have no plans for any further sets. The same thing happened to “Boy Meets World.” It got three seasons out before Buena Vista pulled the plug.

Many fans hold off on buying the first season of a show because they want a guarantee that the entire series will be released. But by not buying the first season, they are actually hurting the chances of that happening.

It’s a vicious circle…

The moral of the story is that if you’re a “Family Ties” fan, get out there on February 20th and buy the season one set.
